Experience the Beauty of the Rockies on Colorado’s Most Scenic Train Ride

Climb aboard the Leadville Railroad Winter Express and journey through a winter wonderland at 10,152 feet! This scenic train ride offers breathtaking views of snow-covered peaks, sparkling lights, and captivating history for the whole family. Enjoy cozy, heated cars, warm drinks, and the magic of the Rocky Mountains. Perfect for families, couples, and visitors of all ages, the Winter Express is Colorado’s favorite way to celebrate the season.

🎟️Starts January 4th! All trips round trip 2 hour rides. 

Reservations Suggested for all Rides

Weather at 10,152' can be unpredictable, you may experience rain, snow, hail or sunshine. Come prepared with layers!

Secure transportation to the Railroad before the day of your trip.
Please Arrive 30 min prior to your scheduled departure time.

We took the train ride on THE weekend for fall colors. Each bend in the track provided a new scene that seemed more spectacular than the previous one. Nice history and local yore as we traveled. Easy to move around the train. Even took our old dog who snoozed during most of the trip. A great way to see the countryside without hiking.

Beautiful scenery while cruising on the train, what more could you want....well, my friend, you can add something. The CABOOSE! Granted it is at an extra cost but boy did it make it more enjoyable! The train leaves from downtown Leadville and heads north for a few miles. Then it stops for a few minutes and heads back. You can ride in any of the cars (not engine or caboose) and they include open cars, covered cars, and covered cars with windows.
